Our Request:
Atradius ITS is building a Platform Engineering capability to better serve our internal software development teams. As part of this initiative, we aim to simplify and standardize interactions with our Kubernetes environments.
This work is part of a broader shift to improve developer experience, accelerate delivery, and standardize across the organization. We are looking for a seasoned Kubernetes expert to lead the development of abstractions, templates and tooling that will make it easier and safer for our development teams to deploy and manage their applications
Office location is Amsterdam, Cardiff or Madrid.
Core Tasks:
As a Senior Engineer in the Platform Engineering team, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain robust, user-friendly abstractions and self-service tools that simplify Kubernetes usage for development teams.
- Develop and promote best practices and standardized templates for Helm chart creation, ensuring sensible defaults and secure configurations.
- Implement and champion secure and easy-to-use solutions for secrets management within Kubernetes.
- Collaborate closely with software development teams, architects, and operations teams to understand their requirements, gather feedback, and drive adoption of platform improvements.
- Provide expert-level technical guidance, support, and training to development teams on Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD best practices, and our new platform abstractions.
- Own and maintain clear, accessible documentation, tutorials, and examples for the tools and services you build.
- Actively contribute to enhancing our internal developer experience by advocating for and implementing best practices, automation, and shared standards in the cloud-native space.
- Automate deployments to Kubernetes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Senior Platform Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, or similar role with a strong focus on Kubernetes in an enterprise setting.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and core concepts (e.g., Pods, Services, Deployments, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, RBAC, Network Policies).
- Extensive hands-on experience with managed Kubernetes platforms, specifically OpenShift and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Expertise in Helm, including chart development, templating, best practices for structuring charts, managing dependencies, and defining overrideable values.
- Strong knowledge of secrets management strategies and tools in Kubernetes (e.g., Kubernetes Secrets, Azure Key Vault integration).
- Demonstrable experience in designing and building developer-centric tools, APIs, or platform abstractions.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with relevant tools to automate application delivery to Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker) and best practices for creating secure and optimized container images.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Ability to take ownership and drive initiatives from concept to production with an end-to-end perspective.
- Excellent command of English (both written and spoken); proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
