Job purpose:   

IT Services are looking for a Web engineer 

The Junior Web Engineer will support the development, maintenance, and optimization of web applications. This role involves working with various web technologies and ensuring the security and efficiency of web services and implementing observability and automation practices to enhance system reliability and performance.

Main duties and responsibilities

Accountable For

• Coordinating and facilitate changes, enhancements, upgrades and patching of our database estate
• Maintaining accurate system and administration documentation
• Identifying and exploring opportunities for service improvement.
• Maintaining business as usual
• Assisting in the development and deployment of web applications.
• Maintaining and updating web servers and related infrastructure.
• Ensuring the security and integrity of web services.
• Collaborating with senior engineers and other team members to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain the relevant technical roadmaps and technical documentation
• Ensure compliance with audit actions 
• Work with third party suppliers to ensure a consistent delivery service
• Ensure standards and controls are defined and adhered to
• Develop and maintain web applications using WebSphere Application Server and Tomcat.
• Manage and administer Security Directory Server.
• Handle web certificate administration and ensure secure communication.
• Configure and maintain web servers to ensure optimal performance.
• Utilize Safelayer tools for enhanced security at certificate signing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to web applications and servers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality web solutions.
• Stay updated with the latest web technologies and security practices.

Skills:

• Proficiency in WebSphere Application Server and Tomcat.
• Knowledge of Security Directory Server.
• Experience in web certificate administration.
• Familiarity with web server configuration and maintenance.
• Understanding of Safelayer tools and their application in web security.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Excellent English skills (spoken and written)
